Serious question, did you know Detroit charges commercial trash pickup by the cubic yard?
I was going over a quote for a small retail space on Woodward and the city fee sheet listed commercial waste at $32 per cubic yard. I always figured it was a flat monthly rate like my old place in Warren, so I had been pricing jobs about 20 percent low for months. A guy at the permit office on Randolph told me the rate changed back in January and nobody sent anything out. How is anyone supposed to keep bids straight when the city updates fees without telling the small shops?
