That warehouse fire last month taught me something about sprinkler inspections
We had a call at a commercial storage unit off I-94 around 3AM last Thursday. Small fire in a stack of pallets, but the sprinkler heads never even triggered because someone had painted over them during a renovation. The building manager was shocked. I told him it's actually pretty common. Has anyone else dealt with painted-over sprinklers or other inspection shortcuts at their commercial property?

Did your insurance adjuster ask about the paint job yet? I saw a similar thing at a storage complex last year where someone spray-painted the whole ceiling to cover up water stains and nobody thought about the sprinklers. The cleanup after a real fire is way more expensive than just repainting would have been.

My buddy Rick painted his garage ceiling black to hide smoke damage and the fire marshal nearly fined him $800 for tampering with evidence.
