I called snake oil on those fuel additive tests until my own truck proved me wrong

Ran a bottle of Hot Shot's Secret through my old 7.3 after a buddy swore by it, and the injector rattle at idle went away for a solid month. What's one thing you all were sure was a gimmick that actually worked?

Yeah, I was the same way. Thought it was all just junk in a bottle. Then my old beater started running rough last winter. A guy at the parts store talked me into trying some injector cleaner, the cheap stuff. Put it in a half tank like it said. Two days later the idle smoothed right out. Couldn't believe it. Felt like a total fool for arguing about it for years. Sometimes the simple fix actually works.

How about those little bottles of fuel system cleaner? I wrote them off for YEARS as a total waste of money. My old sedan developed this awful hesitation when you'd step on the gas. A mechanic friend basically forced a bottle of Techron into my tank. I drove it like normal, grumbling the whole time. By the next fill-up, the stumble was completely gone. I had to eat my words. It's a weird feeling when something that simple actually fixes a problem.
