Lost $450 on a used injector puller, ended up renting one for free

Tbh I thought I was getting a steal on a Snap-on puller from a guy selling out of his barn near Fresno. Get it home and the jaws are so worn it slips off every single injector like it's greased. Spent a whole weekend fighting it and finally just called the local parts store, they rent a solid one for like $25 a day. Should've done that first, now I'm stuck with a paperweight and a lesson about inspecting used tools. Has anyone else got burned on marketplace tool deals?

450 bucks for a lesson in reading a worn jaw? Seems like the expensive part was the weekend, not the tool.
