Overheard a kid call a 12-valve 'ancient', felt old for a second

Tbh I was changing an injector on a 96 Cummins and this young guy walks by saying 'who still works on these dinosaurs', but that old motor has outlasted two of his newer trucks and I told him to check back in 300k miles, has anyone else noticed the newer stuff just doesnt hold up the same?

Did you mean 300k miles on the clock, or 300k since the injector swap? In my experience, the old ones hold up fine, but they still need love like any other motor, your mileage may vary.
