Question about using a 3/4 inch impact on lug nuts

Last week at the shop in Billings, a guy told me I was crazy for using my 3/4 inch Milwaukee impact on truck lug nuts. He said it's too much gun and will stretch the studs. I've been doing it for three years on our fleet rigs and have never had a single stud fail. I torque them to spec after running them down. Has anyone else had a bad experience with a bigger impact, or is this just shop lore?

My 1-inch gun has never snapped a stud either.
