Showerthought: my '93 12-valve hit 500k miles on I-80 near Lincoln and I can't decide if it's luck or maintenance
Rolled over half a million on the odometer driving back from a job in Omaha. I've done oil changes every 5k with plain Rotella and never touched the bottom end, just the usual pump and injector stuff. Half the guys I know say these old 5.9s run forever no matter what you do, and the other half swear a missed service is what kills them at 200k. Mine burns a quart every 1,500 now but still pulls hard. Curious what the crowd thinks, is it dumb luck or does the maintenance schedule actually matter that much on these motors?
