Vent: $600 DPF cleaning that left us worse off
Put a 2015 Freightliner through a shop in Amarillo for a DPF bake and clean, picked it up and it regen'd every 80 miles instead of the usual 400. Has anyone else gotten a cleaned DPF back that just clogs faster, or is it time to just bite the bullet on a new unit?

That shop in Amarillo probably used the cheapest process they could find, just hot air and pray. The thing is, parts and labor get cut corner by corner these days because everybody wants it done yesterday for less money. Seventy-eighty miles between regens means the soot loading sensors think the core is still plugged, so the bake didn't actually open up the substrate pores. Modern trucks are basically rolling computers now, and a cleaner that's 5% off can throw the whole balance off. I'd get a second opinion on the pressure drop readings before dropping cash on new, sometimes a good cleaning shop catches what the first one missed.
