Vent: Folks who hack up old diesel generators for scrap metal need to stop

My side project is fixing a military surplus diesel gen set, and it kills me to see them chopped for parts. That history and solid engineering just get tossed out. Ever try saving one from the scrap yard?

But what's the main reason they get scrapped instead of fixed, is it just the cost?
