Vent: Spent a whole shift chasing a phantom misfire on a 6.7 Powerstroke

Turns out the issue was a tiny crack in the wiring harness behind the valve cover, something you'd never spot without pulling it. Anyone have a good method for testing those injector circuits before you start tearing things apart?

Feel your pain, that's the worst kind of hunt. Honestly, it's like a rule of modern life now, the real problem is always hiding behind the one piece you didn't want to remove. For testing, a good breakout box and watching the power balance with a scan tool is my go-to before pulling covers. Still, sometimes the harness just gives up in the worst spot and you're stuck doing the tear down anyway.

What kind of breakout box are you using these days? I've had a few that just don't hold up to constant use. It sounds like you've got a solid method, but I still hate that moment when you know the test is going to tell you to take apart the whole dash.

My old Snap-on box from 2018 is still kicking without issues. Sometimes you just get a good one that lasts, and constant use doesn't always mean it will fail. I've seen cheaper units die fast, but a well built tool can handle the daily grind.
