30 submissions into the local gallery showcase and half of them have watermarks plastered over the actual art

How do you expect anyone to take your work seriously when the watermark covers the face or the sky in a way that makes the piece look like a bad meme, has anyone else had to reject entries this month for that reason?

Remember that most of these folks are hobbyists, not pros, and they see the watermark as a way to keep their images safe online. Still, you're right that a big stamp across the middle ruins the whole presentation for the viewer. Maybe suggest they move the mark to a corner or make it smaller next time, that's the only real fix I can see.
