Got a weird comment at a local art show last Saturday

I was showing a digital landscape piece at the Pine Street Gallery in Portland when this older guy walks up and says 'your colors are too perfect, it looks fake.' I mean, I spent like 30 hours on that gradient sky blending. It kind of threw me off because I thought vibrant colors were the whole point of digital art. Has anyone else had someone critique your work for looking 'too clean' or something like that?

Wait, isn't "too perfect" kind of the whole point when you're working digitally though? I get where that guy was coming from, but it feels like he was judging digital art by the same standards as oil painting or something. Digital tools let you control every pixel and get that clean look on purpose, it's not a bug it's a feature. If you wanted wobbly lines and muddy colors you'd just paint on canvas, right? Sounds like you nailed what you were going for, the guy just didn't get the medium.
