My first digital painting just got 500 views on ArtStation

I posted a fantasy landscape I made in Krita last week, just to see what would happen. Woke up this morning and saw the view counter hit 500, which is way more than I ever expected for my first try. Does that number actually mean anything, or is it just a fluke?

Honestly, 500 views on your first post is a huge deal, not a fluke at all. The algorithm there can be weird, but that many people stopped to look at your work. It means your thumbnail grabbed them, which is half the battle. You should feel really good about that.

elizabeth220 is totally right here, I had the exact same thing happen with my first piece on ArtStation and it turned out to be the start of getting actual feedback and followers. 500 views means real people scrolled past tons of other art to stop and look at yours, which is way harder than it sounds. @elizabeth220 already said it better than I could, but yeah you should absolutely take that as a win and keep painting.
