Pro tip: I thought my watercolor scans were too washed out to post until a gallery guy in Portland set me straight
I was scanning my watercolor pieces flat on the glass and the colors came out all milky, so I figured I just needed a way better scanner. A guy who runs a small print shop in Portland saw my setup and said the scanner was fine, I just needed to put a black foam board under the paper and raise it off the glass about an inch. I tried it on a 9x12 piece last week and the difference was huge, so now I want to know if anyone else shoots or scans their traditional work and what backing they use.
