Spent 6 hours trying to fix a layer shift on my 3D printer that was just a loose belt
I was working on a digital art piece I wanted to print as a physical sculpture, and every single print came out with this ugly layer shift halfway through. I checked the slicer settings, updated the firmware, even swapped out the stepper motor driver after watching three YouTube videos. Turns out the belt tensioner screw was just a quarter turn loose, took me 6 hours of troubleshooting to figure that out. Has anyone else chased a simple mechanical fix for hours when the obvious answer was staring you in the face?

Did you try checking the printer's frame rigidity too? I had a similar issue where loose frame bolts were causing the same layer shift problem, and tightening them completely fixed it. It's always the simplest mechanical things that waste the most time lmao.

Laughing with you because I once spent 45 minutes Googling why a router was blinking red, only to realize I never actually plugged it into the wall.
