Stop putting your signature in every corner of the piece

I've been browsing this showcase section for a couple months and it keeps bugging me how many artists slam a huge watermark or signature right in the focal point. Like, I get protecting your work, but I saw a piece last week with a bright red tag over the face of the character and it just ruined the whole mood. You spend 20+ hours on lighting and detail only to cover it up with something that looks like a spam overlay. I learned this the hard way too, I used to tuck my initials into every dark corner and it made my gallery look messy. Then a client told me they almost passed on my commission because they couldn't see the actual art through all my branding. Has anyone else found a good balance between marking your work and letting the image breathe? I'd love to hear what placement tricks you all use without killing the composition.
