Talked to a graphic designer at a coffee shop who said my art was 'too perfect'
She told me to leave my rough sketch lines visible and it actually made my digital paintings look way more real, has anyone else tried keeping the messy parts in?

I was at number 47 on a messy-to-clean art scale until a barista told me my digital paintings looked like they were printed by a machine. Left a few stray sketch lines and a random coffee ring stain on my last piece and suddenly it had soul. My cat could probably make better messy art though, I just end up with smudges that look like unhappy clouds.

I was the same way honestly, used to think clean lines were the only way to go. But @elizabeth_bailey26 you mentioning the coffee ring stain is exactly what changed my mind, I left a thumbprint smudge on a landscape piece by accident and it ended up being the thing people talked about most. Now I leave stray color blocks and half erased guide lines on purpose, makes the whole thing breathe instead of just sitting there looking sterile.
