Walked through the Rhode Island School of Design gallery and noticed something weird

I visited the RISD art gallery last weekend and saw like 10 digital pieces in a row that all used the same glitch effect. It was that fuzzy TV static look with rainbow lines cutting through faces. Is that just the trend right now or am I overthinking it? Has anyone else noticed a bunch of artists leaning hard on one specific filter?

My buddy sent me a screenshot of his art show and every single piece had that rainbow static filter too.

Guess that filter is the new beige paint for galleries these days huh.
