Why I finally ditched static portfolios for animated pieces

I used to insist on posting only finished stills on my Behance, thought animations were gimmicky. Then I saw a motion piece by a local artist named Marco in Austin at a meetup, and the way he showed the stroke build-up just made the whole thing click. I spent 3 weeks adding simple 5-second loops to my top 12 projects, and my views tripled. Has anyone else found that buyers respond way better to motion previews than static shots?

My cousin Danny runs a tiny landscaping outfit and he literally filmed his mower going through one yard with a phone taped to a shovel handle. That video got him three commercial contracts in a month, while his polished before and after photos did nothing for years. I think people just want to SEE the process, not the perfect ending. Your stroke build-up thing reminds me of that, like the mess and movement is what actually sells the work. Now I'm wondering if I should add little 6 second clips of my own stuff, even if it feels weird at first.
