A client made me rethink how I pitch SEO packages

I had a call with a local bakery owner here in Portland last week and she straight up told me my proposal felt like a maze. She said, 'I just want to know how many more people will walk through my door, not all this jargon about backlinks and domain authority.' Her exact words hit different because she was right. I spent 15 minutes explaining technical SEO stuff when she just wanted a simple number tied to revenue. That conversation made me strip down my whole pitch to focus on outcomes instead of processes. Now I lead with something like 'I can get you 20 more customers a month from Google searches' and explain the how only if they ask. Has anyone else had a client call out their approach like that? How did you change your messaging?

Did she push back on the pricing too or just the pitch?

I mean, you're assuming she didn't push back on pricing, but maybe the pitch just wasn't strong enough to justify it. If the value was there, price wouldn't have been the real issue.
