Just realized a client meeting in a Chicago coffee shop changed how I see our whole pitch

I was showing a potential client our usual deck with all the metrics and case studies. He stopped me halfway through and said, 'I don't care about your past wins, I care if you can fix my problem right now.' It happened at a Starbucks on Michigan Avenue last month. He made me skip to the part where we talk about his specific goals and the first 30 days of work. Now I start every meeting with that question first. What's the one thing you make sure to ask a new client before you talk about your agency?

Changed how I see our whole pitch" seems like a big shift from one chat. Most clients just want to talk about their own problems, that's pretty normal sales stuff. Not sure a coffee shop meeting is that deep.

Right? Like when did a casual chat become some life changing event?
