My client's live webinar got hijacked by a cat filter
We were running a big webinar for a tech client last Tuesday, with about 500 people signed up. I was in our office in Phoenix, watching the stream, when the presenter's face suddenly turned into a cartoon cat. He kept talking about B2B lead gen for a full two minutes before he noticed. I had to jump on the chat and tell him to restart his camera. The whole thing was a mess, but the chat actually went wild with people saying it was the best part. Anyone else had a tech fail turn into an unexpected win?

My cousin's Zoom wedding last year had a similar vibe. The officiant's audio cut out completely right at the vows, so for a solid minute it was just this silent, emotional lip-syncing. Everyone in the little squares was crying and laughing at the same time. It somehow made the whole thing feel more real and human, you know? Those unplanned moments are what people actually remember.

Lean into that angle hard. We had a client's product demo freeze on a weird glitch that made their logo spin like a hypnotoad wheel for a solid 30 seconds. People in the chat started making bets on which direction it would stop. Ended up being the most engaged that audience had ever been, and the client said their post-webinar survey feedback was the highest they'd ever gotten. Sometimes the screwups are what make people feel like they're watching something live and real, not a polished corporate robot.
