PSA: That free SEO audit tool from a random LinkedIn guru cost me $2,000

I clicked on a LinkedIn ad from some guy named Marcus in Austin who promised a free SEO audit. He told me to remove all my blog content under 2,000 words and redirect every URL to a homepage. I followed his advice for 3 months and my organic traffic dropped 80% overnight. Turns out he was just trying to sell me his $500 course on "link building secrets." Has anyone else fallen for a bad audit that messed up their rankings?

yeah that hurts just reading it. I hate that this happened to you. those free audit people are always fishing for something. removing all your short blog content is crazy. that's where most of your long tail traffic comes from.

Removing all your short blog content is crazy" - see I actually think that might be the SMARTEST thing you can do sometimes. Google has been VERY clear they want helpful content that answers a question completely. Those 200 word posts are basically just filler. They don't build any real authority and they often get flagged as thin content now. I've seen sites bounce back HARD after they cut all the short stuff and only kept the meaty guides. It forces you to focus on quality over quantity and that's what actually gets you rankings these days. Sometimes you gotta be brutal with your own content to see real growth.
