The whole 'growth hacking' thing agencies pitch feels like a buzzword trap

I had an agency in Austin pitch me a $5k monthly retainer for 'growth hacking' and when I asked what that actually meant they said 'a mix of viral content and automation'. My warehouse team runs 12 hour shifts, I don't have time for vague deliverables. Has anyone else gotten a clear breakdown of what a growth hacker actually does?

Had a guy in Dallas pitch me the exact same thing last year, $4k a month for "growth hacking" and when I pressed him he basically said he'd post on social media and set up some email sequences. I told him straight up my crews don't need viral content, they need actual leads who want tree work done. Best thing I ever did was ask for a one month trial with clear goals like "10 qualified calls" and "5 booked estimates" with concrete metrics attached. If they can't give you that kind of breakdown with numbers, they're just selling you a pretty spreadsheet and a dream.

Ask for a trial month with hard numbers like Wade said. Game changer.
