Unpopular opinion: I used to write client reports like they were college essays

I mean, back in 2020, my monthly reports for our Seattle bakery client were like 15 pages long with charts and footnotes, idk what I was thinking. The owner finally called me and said, 'Tyler, I just look at the part that says if we made more money.' Now I use a one-page template that just shows the three main numbers and what we're doing next. Has anyone else had a client just totally reset how you do a basic task?
