Found a cheap SIM card trick that saved me $40 a month abroad

I was paying $60 a month for global data roaming until a guy in a coworking space in Medellin told me about local eSIMs. I switched to a Colombian carrier and now pay $20 for 20GB. The catch is you need an unlocked phone and a backup plan for 2FA texts. Anyone else find a better deal on data hopping between countries?

Honestly though @robinson.leo, most people overthink the 2FA thing, just forward texts to Google Voice for free.

Wait, what did you end up doing for the 2FA texts? I had to keep my old number on a cheap prepaid just to log into my bank stuff - kinda kills the savings when you're paying for two lines.
