Getting my SIM working in Tbilisi took 11 days and 4 trips to the same office
I figured it would take an afternoon, but between passport rules and a system outage I burned 11 days and 4 visits to the Magti office on Rustaveli. Part of me thinks you should just pay the airport markup and skip the hassle, but the other part says never let them win. If you have landed somewhere and lost a week to a phone plan, where was it?
Lagos got me for 9 days back in 2019, and it was the same deal, passport copies, one guy who had to approve everything, and he was never at his desk. I used to say always fight the markup because it's a racket, but after that trip I paid the airport price in Accra without blinking. Losing vacation days to an office chair is way worse than losing $20. These days I just treat the airport fee as the real cost of the SIM.
