Ever wonder if that cost ever makes you feel like you're not really from anywhere?

I used to think the whole "not from anywhere" thing was just people being dramatic about their choices. But then I started adding up what I actually spend on flights home every year and it hit me different. Two round trips back to the States costs me almost what I pay in rent for two months, and half the time my family acts like I'm a celebrity showing up with gifts instead of just visiting. You start realizing you're kind of floating between two worlds and neither one fully feels like home anymore.

Actually that's a pretty common reality for expats here. The flight costs really add up, especially if you're from North America or Europe. It's not just the ticket price either, you often have to bring gifts or help out when you visit. Makes you realize what you trade for the lifestyle.
