I burned 6 vacation days in Lisbon trying to work from a cafe, and I'd do it again
Everyone screams at new nomads to park yourself in a coworking space the second you land. I did the opposite in Lisbon two months ago and had my best work week of the entire year. I posted up at the same little pastelaria in Alfama for 5 days straight, spent about 11 euros a day on coffee and sandwiches, and my output was better than any 200 euro hot desk I have paid for. Here is the thing people miss: the owner learned my name by day two, the wifi never once cut out, and nobody tapped me on the shoulder to ask about my morning standup. The one catch is you need a cafe that is dead between 10 and 2, and that took me three bad spots to find. Am I nuts for thinking a 12 euro a day table beats a membership, or has someone else found a spot like this?
