I finally stopped paying for coworking spaces in Bali after a local tip

I was spending about $200 a month on a fancy spot in Canggu, but the wifi was still spotty during peak hours. A barista told me to try the public library in Denpasar instead, which has free, fast internet and air con. I went for a week and got more done than in the previous month, plus I met a few other nomads doing the same thing. Has anyone else found a good free spot that beats the paid memberships?

That Denpasar library tip is going around the digital nomad groups.

Jumping in to say @brooke475 is totally right about Chiang Mai libraries - I once tried to work from a Denpasar library and ended up knocking over a whole shelf of Balinese history books with my giant backpack. Nothing screams "professional digital nomad" like apologizing to a librarian while your laptop charger gets tangled in someone's bike lock. Seriously though, free wifi and air conditioning make me feel like I'm actually saving money even if I just buy a coffee at their little cafe. I'm basically a clown with a passport but at least my savings account is happy!

The university library in Chiang Mai saved me a ton of money.
