I was paying for a coworking space in Chiang Mai for months before a local cafe owner set me straight

I kept buying the daily pass at a big coworking spot, about $15 a day, thinking I needed the 'professional' setup. After three months, the owner of my regular breakfast spot saw my laptop and asked why I was wasting money. He showed me a small, quiet cafe two streets over with great wifi, power outlets at every table, and coffee for $2. I haven't paid for a coworking day since. What's your best free or cheap work spot find in a new city?

Man, that's the real local knowledge right there... I've found the best spots are never the ones advertising "work-friendly" on their window. It's always some quiet place a few blocks off the main drag, where they don't mind you camping out for a few hours if you buy a couple of drinks. Libraries are a total secret weapon too, especially the older ones with those big wooden tables and the good silence.

I always thought coworking spaces were essential until a similar thing happened to me.
