My 'perfect' digital nomad week in Medellin was actually a nightmare

I kept reading about how Medellin is the holy grail for nomads so I booked a month there. My third day I got hit with a bad case of Montezuma's revenge from street food and spent 48 hours glued to a toilet. Then my laptop charger shorted out and the only replacement I could find was a cheap knockoff that sparked when I plugged it in. By Friday my coworking space WiFi went down for 6 hours and I couldn't join a client call. Has anyone else had a hyped up city turn into a total letdown like that?

Sounds like you just had a really unlucky week, not some huge systemic issue with the city. Street food gets people sometimes, chargers fail, and WiFi goes down everywhere. Calling it a "nightmare" feels a little dramatic for what's basically a string of bad luck.

Used to think bad travel weeks were rare, but this story shifted my view.
