Overheard a girl at a coworking space in Chiang Mai say she books hostels based on desk placement near outlets

I was grabbing water and heard her telling someone on a call that she always checks hostel photos for where the desks face windows. Said she spent 2 weeks in a room where the only desk faced a wall and it killed her productivity. Honestly never thought about that before. I just look at wifi speed and bed privacy. Anyone else got weird criteria for choosing places?

Wait, so she's seriously out here ranking hostels by outlet proximity like it's some kind of life hack? I've stayed in plenty of rooms facing a wall and honestly, it forced me to actually get my work done instead of staring out a window at palm trees. If your productivity tanks because you can't look at a street scene every five minutes, maybe the issue isn't the desk placement. Plus, those window-facing desks usually have terrible glare on your screen, so you'd just end up squinting at your laptop anyway. Seems like a lot of overthinking for something that boils down to just getting a coffee shop and using their outlets for an hour.

Honestly, I kind of ended up in the same boat. Last year I was in a hostel in Lisbon with a desk facing a brick wall and it was actually great. No glare, no distractions, I could just plug in and grind through my work in like half the time. I got this little usb clip-on light from Amazon for like 8 bucks and it made the whole setup way easier to see at night too. Sometimes the "bad" desk is secretly the best one, you know?
