That hostel in Lisbon with 11 bunk beds finally broke me

I was in Lisbon last March for work, and my cheap hostel had 11 bunk beds in one room. Some guy was on a video call at 2am, no headphones, and the wifi dropped every 20 minutes so I couldn't even zone out. I ended up booking a private room at the next stop in Porto for 45 euros a night, and now I budget for that every single trip. Has anyone else hit a point where the savings from hostels just aren't worth the sleep you lose?

Man, 11 bunks is not a hostel, that's a fever dream with bedbugs. The 2am video call guy should be studied by scientists, that level of zero awareness is a superpower. My breaking point was a guy in Barcelona who snored so loud the windows rattled, I swear the building shook. Now I just treat hostels like a tax, I pay the extra 30 bucks and call it a sleep insurance policy. Honestly, your brain and back will thank you later, 45 euros is cheap for not wanting to punch a stranger in the dark.
