That stat about coworking memberships actually staying cheaper than leases changed my mind about renting a place in Lisbon

I was dead set on signing a 12 month lease for an apartment in Lisbon last month. Then I found a breakdown online showing the average monthly cost of a coworking membership in Europe is around $150, while a studio in a prime area runs $900+ after utilities. That math made me realize I could bounce between cities for a whole year and still come out ahead. Has anyone else looked at the numbers and scrapped their original plans?

Haha, the "bounce between cities for a whole year" part really got me. I did the same math and ended up not even getting a coworking membership because I realized I could just work from a different coffee shop each day and pretend I'm a digital nomad with a serious caffeine addiction. Then I spent three months hopping around hostels in Spain and was so sick of packing by the end that I basically moved back into my mom's basement. So yeah, that 150 bucks a month sounds great until your back gives out from sleeping on a 30-year-old sofa.

@anthonyhunt your hostel story is a nightmare I know all too well. I did the digital nomad thing for a bit and my back still hurts thinking about those lumpy sofa beds. The coworking math works if you are smart about where you sleep. I found a cheap coliving spot in Medellin for $400 a month that included a desk and fast wifi. That saved me from having to rent a whole place or bounce around hostels. Your mileage may vary but locking in one spot with a coworking pass beat the lease cost by a long shot for me.
