The wifi in Playa del Carmen got way worse after the hurricane

I was there for two months and the speeds dropped from a solid 50 Mbps to under 5 Mbps in most cafes. The local providers are still fixing lines, so maybe check other towns for now. Has anyone found a good spot in the Yucatan that's still reliable?

Ugh, my buddy in Tulum said his connection totally died last week.

Yeah, the local providers fixing lines is the main thing. I wonder if all the new construction there is making it worse (they're always digging and hitting cables, which happened in my old neighborhood). Maybe try looking at smaller towns that aren't building as much, like Valladolid, since their underground stuff might be safer.
