Tried coworking at a library instead of a cafe for 2 weeks straight

I've been bouncing around Southeast Asia for about 4 years now doing remote work. Always defaulted to cafes because that's what everyone talks about. But the wifi at this one spot in Chiang Mai kept dropping and the iced coffees were adding up to $8 a day. Switched to the university library near my apartment for a trial run. It was dead quiet, free internet, and I could spread out my stuff on a big table. The weird thing was I actually got less done at first because the silence made me antsy. After a few days I got used to it and found I could focus harder on code without the background noise. Only downside was no food or drinks allowed, so I had to pack snacks and step out for lunch. Has anyone else found a non-traditional workspace that threw off their routine at first?

Ugh the dead silence making you antsy is so real. I tried working from a hotel lobby once thinking it'd be chill but the quiet was actually way more distracting than a busy cafe.

Have you tried nature sounds instead of pure silence?
