Warning: My work speed in Chiang Mai dropped 60% after switching to a local SIM

I was getting solid work done for two weeks on hotel wifi, then bought a local AIS tourist SIM for better coverage. The next three days my output crashed because I kept getting distracted exploring the city instead of working from cafes. Has anyone else found that better internet access actually hurt their focus when you first get to a new place?

You said the hotel wifi was "holding you back"... but was it actually holding you back from work, or from leaving? Maybe the slow speed was a useful lock on the door you didn't know you needed.

Classic case of blaming the tools. That SIM card just gave you the freedom your hotel wifi was holding back. Sounds like Chiang Mai itself is the real distraction, not the internet speed. Maybe you needed that bad connection as a crutch to actually work. Now you can finally see the city, and the work is paying the price. Good luck trying to go back to pretending that cafe is just an office.
