A privacy tool prevented potential identity theft, but now I can't access my community forums

I started using a browser add-on that identified and stopped a third-party script from collecting my personal data when I made an online purchase. However, it also interferes with the authentication process on my favorite discussion board, locking me out. Should I prioritize blocking hidden data collection over seamless access to online communities?

Wait, did you see how many data breaches happen every year? Calling it a 'theoretical' risk is way off. Stolen browsing data gets sold in bundles and used for real scams, not just ads. Maybe whitelist the forum, but don't act like the threat isn't solid.

Scripts on checkout pages can capture email addresses and credit card info, not just browsing data. The Cambridge Analytica leak built profiles for 87 million users from similar sources. Whitelist your forum for access, but calling all tracking harmless ignores how data breaches enable identity theft.

Identity theft is a scary term, but that script was probably just gathering generic browsing data for targeted ads. Most sites use similar analytics without malicious intent. Getting locked out of a community you actually use regularly feels more disruptive than a theoretical privacy risk. Maybe whitelist the forum in your add-on settings instead of disabling it entirely.
