Figured the paid VPN in my hotel in Austin was a waste, then I checked the lobby wifi
Booked three nights at a place off I-35 last month and the free wifi asked for my room number and last name with no password, which felt off. I got the $4.99 app mostly to kill time before my flight, then ran a quick check and saw 11 other devices on that same network. The part that got me was the front desk guy shrugging and saying guests share the login with folks who aren't even staying there. Now I want to know if anyone has a simpler way to test a hotel network before typing a card number into it.
