Finally deleted my old fitness tracker account after 4 years

I was cleaning out my email and saw a 'weekly activity report' from a company I stopped using in 2020, and it hit me that they were still holding all my location and health data. I went to their site, found the delete option buried in settings, and confirmed it was gone. How often do you guys check for old accounts you forgot about?

Ever read that article about how many accounts the average person has? It said like 150 or something crazy. I try to do a purge once a year, but it's scary how much stuff is just sitting out there. I found an old music forum account from high school that was still active last time I checked. Good on you for actually digging in and deleting it, most people just ignore those emails.

Right, because nothing says "good life choices" like finding your mom's ancient credit card info just floating around on a defunct website. Classic. It's like those accounts are designed to be impossible to kill, like a digital zombie that just keeps shambling along. Honestly, I'm convinced half of them are powered by the ghost of old AOL trial CDs. Maybe we all just need to accept our 150 digital clones and move on.

Remembered my friend logging into an old email for a laugh and finding a "welcome" email from a defunct video rental site. He clicked the link and it still went to a live account page with his mom's credit card info saved from like 2005. He spent an hour trying to find a delete button that didn't exist. It's wild how these digital ghosts just hang around forever.
