I finally stopped posting my kids' school achievements on Facebook after my aunt called me out
She said I was basically handing a map of their daily routines to strangers, and after thinking about it for a day I realized she was right about the lunch schedule and school name being too much info. Anyone else have a family member who made you rethink your sharing habits?

My brother deleted his whole Facebook after his ex-wife posted a photo of their kid's school project that had the street name visible in the background. That was three years ago and he never looked back. The scary part is you usually don't realize how much you're giving away until someone points it out. People don't think about metadata in photos or old posts where you check in at the same park every Tuesday afternoon. Once you start paying attention it's kind of alarming what a stranger could piece together from just a few months of normal posts.

Does your brother ever miss it at all? I did something similar after I found out my old Twitter account had my exact apartment building visible in the background of like twenty photos over two years. @ivanjones, your brother is right about the park check-in thing. I used to post live from my favorite coffee shop every Saturday morning, and someone could have literally known my weekend routine down to the minute. Once I deleted everything and started fresh with zero location tags, it felt like a weight was lifted. Now I only post photos that have been cropped and checked twice for anything identifiable like street signs or house numbers.
