I let a museum scan my face for a free ticket in Chicago and then read the fine print on the way home
Last month I went to the Field Museum in Chicago and they had this kiosk where you skip the $28 ticket line if you let them scan your face. I figured sure, whatever, it's just a face. On the train home I actually read the consent screen I had tapped through and it said they can share the data with "partner institutions" for up to 3 years. I called the membership desk two days later and a woman there admitted they cannot delete it once it feeds into the partner system. Everyone I tell this to says I'm paranoid and that face scans are just like showing a photo ID. But a photo ID does not follow me to 12 other museums without me knowing. Has anyone actually gotten their biometric data pulled from one of these ticket systems, or did we all just tap agree like I did?
