I started using a separate email for every online store and it's weirdly freeing

I got tired of my main inbox getting flooded with ads after buying a pair of shoes from Zappos. So I set up a simple rule in Gmail where I add a plus sign and the store name to my address, like myname+zappos@gmail.com. Now I can see exactly who sold my info when I get spam, and I can block that whole alias with one filter. Has anyone else tried this and found it actually cuts down on junk mail?

My spam folder already has 3000 emails, so one extra filter seems like overkill lol.
