I switched from a free email service to Proton Mail for a month

The difference was huge. Proton's end-to-end encryption means my messages aren't scanned for ads, which felt like a real weight off. Has anyone else tried a secure email provider and noticed a change in what they're willing to type?

Ever delete an email mid-sentence because you pictured some IT guy reading it? I switched to a paid service and now I just write whatever, hit send, and don't look back. @the_blair nailed it - the filter comes off once you know your words aren't getting saved for someone else's profit.

Ever catch yourself almost sending a normal email, then remember it's not encrypted and just delete the whole thing? I started using a different secure service last year and realized I was holding back on sending my buddy some dumb jokes about our boss, stuff I'd normally say in person. It made me wonder what else I filter out without even thinking.

Stuff I'd normally say in person" is the whole problem. It's like we've all been trained that digital = permanent record for HR. I'll type out a whole rant and then just stare at it knowing some server is saving it forever. The filter goes on automatically.
