I think my smart doorbell calling the cops was a good thing

Last Tuesday, the motion sensor flagged a guy checking my car doors at 3 AM, and the police showed up in under four minutes. Everyone says it's creepy, but I'd rather have that video clip than a broken window. Do you really think a little less privacy is worse than getting your stuff stolen?

My old neighbor had a camera that flagged every raccoon as a person. The cops got called for a cat fight last month. Sometimes the tech just makes more work for everyone.

Hold up, did the cops actually roll out for a cat fight? That's wild. Like what did they think they were gonna find, a gang of stray cats with weapons? Makes you wonder if all this tech is just training people to ignore real alerts because they get so many fake ones.

Honestly, this whole thing shows how we're all just making it up as we go with new tech. My building's smart lock once went nuts and emailed me a break-in alert because a delivery guy leaned on the door. It's this weird middle ground where the system is both helpful and kind of dumb. We trade a bit of weirdness for feeling safer, but you're right, a false alarm is better than coming home to an empty driveway. Does that balance ever feel worth it to you?
