Just compared Signal against WhatsApp for a week straight

Signal's the clear winner for me after my buddy sent a screenshot of a group chat that included my phone number from WhatsApp's metadata. Has anyone else just abandoned the big apps after seeing how much they actually leak?

The metadata thing is what got me too. Had a group chat where someone forwarded a message and my phone number showed up plain as day in the headers. Signal's been clean for months now, not a single leak. What people don't talk about is how Signal's disappearing messages actually work for real conversations, not just spy stuff. My sister uses it for her therapy support group and the auto-delete timer means nobody can screenshot and share stuff later. That's a use case nobody brings up.

I used to think Signal was just for paranoid people but this actually makes a lot of sense.
