My friend the IT guy told me to use a password manager and I laughed at him

This was like 3 years ago. He kept bugging me about it and I was like "I can remember passwords just fine" lol. Then last year I got hit with one of those credential stuffing attacks. Someone got into my email because I used the same password for a cooking forum and my main account. Lost a week trying to fix everything. Finally caved and got a password manager. Still using it. Has anyone else had that moment where you realized you were wrong about something privacy related?

Three different passwords for three different sites and I still thought I was being smart about it. That cooking forum story hit close to home because I had the same situation with a gardening site I used once and forgot about. Someone got into my PayPal through that same weak link and it took me three days to sort out the mess with my bank. I was so smug about remembering everything too, like it was some kind of bragging right or something. Now I just let the app do the work and honestly it feels better not having to play memory games with my own security.

Got locked out of my own email for three hours once because I tried the "clever" route and used variations of the same word.
