Pro tip: After my fridge's shopping list app notified my roommate about my weird cravings, I now use burner emails for smart home sign-ups.

The detail about your fridge app notifying your roommate is shocking. I had no idea these apps could share data like that without user permission. It makes me question how much control we really have over our smart devices. Switching to burner emails seems necessary, but it's frustrating that privacy isn't built into these systems from the start. This kind of oversight from manufacturers is unacceptable in today's digital age.

Yikes, this privacy stuff is getting out of hand... I mean, @shane78's friend's lock sharing logs? That's insane. I once had a smart speaker order cat food because it misheard me talking about my neighbor's pet.

Just heard a friend's smart lock shared entry logs with his landlord by default. Your mileage may vary, but @mila_wright is right about manufacturers overlooking privacy. He uses burner emails for everything now.
