Signed up for a VPN after my neighbor spotted my browsing history last month

I was watching true crime videos on my laptop in a coffee shop near Boston, and the guy next to me leaned over and said 'you really like murder docs huh' - he could see my screen from across the table. Now I'm trying to figure out if a VPN is enough or if I need to start using a privacy screen filter too. Anyone have experience with both?

Grabbed a privacy screen for my laptop after the same thing happened to me at a library, and honestly it made more difference than the VPN for that problem. Stick a matte one on there and people stop reading over your shoulder cold.
